What Are the Most Prevalent Diseases in the World?

By Veronica Elizabeth Paul
What is cancer?

Cancer is a collective term use to refer to malignant tumor or uncontrollable cancerous cell growth within the body. Cell is the smallest unit in our body and it contains carbon and mostly water that can be ionized or become more reactive easily and affect a change in cell's genetic material called deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). If the damage DNA is not repair then it may replicate and mutate to become dangerous cancerous cell. Any human part that do not replicate or reproduce like hair, nails, teeth are immune from cancer.

Risk factors of getting cancer?

Common factors those affecting frequencies of cancer are: age, gender, race, family history, genetic, diet (high fat, cholesterol, fried foods, artificial food additive are all bad for health), lifestyle (smoking, alcohol abuse, drugs, etc), health condition, environmental factors (chemical, UV, biological, radiation etc). Once the cancerous cell starts to replicate in our body and it will start to destroy and attack our normal cell which causing many symptoms appearing as warning sign to us that our body is getting sick and weak.

Cancer Diagnosis?

People will start to be panic and looking for health professional for screening and diagnosis before getting the right treatment to either cure it (if the cancer is in early stage) or prevent it from recurrent (when the cancer already being removed) or slowing down the cancerous cell mutation to prolong one's life (when about reaching terminal stage). The most frequent diagnosis methods includes symptoms observation, physical examination, laboratory test (include blood test, urine test, body chemical test, etc) and various forms of screening tests (X-Ray, CT scan, MRI, PET)

Cancer treatment?

In general, cancer is classified based on three main criteria which are the location of tumor (topography), histological (morphological) and tumor behavior (size, invasive, spread, grade). There are three most frequent recommended treatments for most cancer patient are surgery (plays role as either diagnostics or curative or palliation), chemotherapy (using anti-cancer drugs to kill cancer cell), radiotherapy (a type of high frequency radiation to kill cancer call) and follow-up checkup/visits to prevent recurrent of cancer.http://ezinearticles.com/?Most-Common-Diseases-in-the-World&id=3739943
